Detected Range of Invasive Ruffe, February, 2008

The National Fish & Wildlife Conservation Offices (NFWCO) of Ashland and Green Bay, Wis., Alpena, Mich., Amherst, N.Y., the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, and the U.S. Geological Survey updated a one-page fact sheet on the range of Eurasian ruffe, a Great Lakes invasive fish.  The fact sheet highlights ruffe range expansion during 2007, and describes and illustrates the detected range of ruffe from initial discovery in 1986 through 2007.  The fact sheet was made available to participants at each of the five Great Lakes technical committee meetings of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, held last month in Toronto, Canada.  The fact sheet is also available to the public on the Ashland NFWCO website at http://www.fws.gov/midwest/ashland/ .
