Westfield River Watershed Symposium
Northeast Region, April 5, 2008
Print Friendly Version
The Connecticut River Coordinator's Office displayed an exhibit on Didymosphenia geminata or "rock snot" to inform participants at the 14th Westfield River Watershed Association Symposium about the threat posed by this aquatic nuisance species already detected upstream in both Vermont and New Hampshire.  About 120 people had the opportunity to see the display, pick up information on aquatic nuisance species and on Atlantic salmon fry stocking opportunities in the Connecticut River watershed.  The symposium is an annual event held at Westfield State College in Westfield, MA.  This year's speakers addressed the theme of What's Up In Your Watershed?  A variety of topics were presented including road-crossing impacts, the landowner incentive program, water quality monitoring, anadromous fish restoration, and land preservation.  A wonderful puppet show about watersheds was presented for the younger crowd.
