In attendance at the meetings were: representatives from Cuenca de los Ojos; Malpai Borderland Group; Sky Islands Alliance; USFWS; USGS; USDA; Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford’s office; the Center of Baccalaureatte of Technology and Industrialism Studies, Aqua Prieta, Sonora; University of Arizona; and the Northern Jaguar Project.

Of concern to all participants were the diverse (environmental, social, and economic) impacts of border fence construction.  The lack of integrated conservation, development, and security vision for the region was a concern of many participants.  Plans to develop an initiative to foster collaborative, respectful, community-based cross-border conservation, security, and more sustainable practices were set in motion.
