Oklahoma Gas and Electric Northwest Oklahoma Transmission Planning

Executive summary of accomplishment: OKESFO Field Supervisor and Staff met with several OG&E transmission management and planning staff to discuss the proposed transmission project from Oklahoma City to Woodward and Woodward to Guymon, Oklahoma.  The entire purpose of this transmission is to facilitate the development of new wind energy facilities in the Panhandle and Northwest Oklahoma.  A basic overview was provided of the migratory birds and federally-listed species in the area of the proposed project and concerns and possible solutions associated with the proposed project, including following APLIC recommendations, and addressing take of migratory birds and federally-listed species through Avian Protection Plans and General Conservation Plans or Habitat Conservation Plans.  OG&E  seemed willing to cooperate and interested in options to protect them from liability under the MBTA and ESA.  The request was made to meet again with the power supply division of the company to discuss their future wind energy projects in the state.  A follow-up meeting is being scheduled for early February.
