International Group Visits San Bernardino National Wildlife Refuge
Southwest Region, February 15, 2008
Print Friendly Version

San Bernardino NWR once again had Mongolian visitors tour the refuge.  In December of 2006 we had a delegation of six Mongolians tour the refuge to gather information on international relations, partnerships with private land owners with governmental land management agencies, and fire as a tool in conservation practices.  The Malpai Borderlands Group hosted the group on February 15, 2008.  In the group were Chingel Tuvsanaa, Policy Department Ministry of Nature; Otgonbaatar Tsog, local herder; Dulamkhand Yadamsuren, local elected official; Amar Purev, Ranger of Toson Hustai Nature Reserve; Uliziitumur, Enforcement Officer for Regional Protected Area Division; Dagasuren Dogdom, Director of Eastern Mongolia;  Gala Davaa, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) Conservation Fellow and interpreter for the group; Sabine Schmidt, New Zealand Nature Institute; Susan Antenen, Mongolian Project Director for TNC; and Peter Ward, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Division of International Conservation.
