Indiana Bat Hibernacula Maintained
Northeast Region, January 23, 2008
Print Friendly Version
On Wednesday, January 23, 2008, New Jersey Field Office Fish and Wildlife Supervisory Biologist Eric Schrading joined with the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife Service to clear vegetation around two mine sites that provide hibernacula for the Federally listed Indiana Bat.  The private property was also posted to discourage recent trespassing and vandalism around the mine sites.  A bat gate will be installed at one of the mine sites in spring 2008 and a recent subsidence will be filled with locally quarried boulders.
