On October 16^th, 2007, a group of students from the South Shore High School were able to get out of school for a couple hours to take a tour of the Iron River National Fish Hatchery. 

Project leader Dale Bast was able to give the students a full walking tour of the hatchery and explanations of how things work at the hatchery from eggs to the  stocking of yearling fish. 

They were also able to see how the fish are marked by watching the fin clippers mark lake trout for spring stocking.  The students were also able to suit up and hop in on some lake trout spawning!  Many questions were asked and answered… hopefully we will be seeing some of these students as future Fish and Wildlife Service employees!
