Symposium on Old World Bluestem Grasses Held

Chris Best, Austin Ecological Services Field Office, organized a sympoisum on Old World Bluestems, which was held during the Texas Invasive Species Conference, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Austin, Nov 14 – 16.  Old World Bluestems are a group of closely related, highly invasive introduced range grasses that are causing significant problems in Texas and other states.  The symposium included presentations from 11 invited experts covering the history, ecology, control, economics and alternatives to the continued use of Old World Bluestems.  This group will publish a symposium proceedings, oriented to land managers and private landowners next year.
