Saltcedar Leaf Beetle Control Meeting Held

 A meeting to discuss the saltcedar control, riparian restoration and saltcedar leaf beetles was held in Albuquerque November 7-8, 2007.  The meeting was jointly organized by New Mexico Ecilogical Services Office (ESFO) and Austin ESFO.  The meeting was attended by 14 Service biologists from New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, and Utah.  They Participated in a field trip  to riparian restoration sites at Rio Rancho, Isleta Pueblo and Sevilleta NWR on November 6.  Dr. David Thompson, Dept of Entomology, NM State University, provided an update of leaf beetle releases and results on November 7.  The team reviewed riparian restoration efforts, potential impacts on the southwestern willow flycatcher, and the consultation history on leaf beetle releases.
