Tittabawassee River NRDA Restoration Criteria Presented
Midwest Region, November 28, 2007
Print Friendly Version

The Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) Specialist from the East Lansing Field Office spoke to a crowded public meeting in Saginaw, MI, on November 28, 2007, about the ongoing Natural Resource Damage Assessment for the Tittabawassee River System.

She spoke on behalf of the state, federal and tribal trustees as she described the criteria that the trustees will use to evaluate restoration projects relative to the goals of NRDA.  She also described how the NRDA fits in with other actions being taken for contaminated areas downstream of Midland, MI.

Over 150 people attended the meeting, which was organized by Dow Chemical and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to describe progress in the interim remedial actions and remedial investigations being conducted as part of a corrective action process for the past releases of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans.
