From November 27-29, 2007, Don Wilhelm of the Arlington Field Office attended a workshop entitled “Changing Roles in Natural Resources: Opportunities in New Audiences and Partnerships.”  The workshop was sponsored by the Texas Forest Service, and approximately 60 conservation professionals attended with the vast majority of the participants from the Texas Forest Service, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the Texas Cooperative Extension Service.  There were many conservation topics covered during the workshop which are relevant to biologist working in the Service’s Ecological Services program.  Some of the presentation titles were:  Development and Urban Sprawl, Conservation Practices for Water Quality and Quantity, Conservation Ordinances in Urban Areas, Bio-energy/Bio-fuel Opportunities, Holistic Resource Management, Nature Tourism, Powerful Powerpoint Presentations, and Media Communications Overview  (including a mock on-camera interview).   The workshop planning team (mainly Texas Forest Service personnel) made it clear that they hoped Service personnel will attend future workshops to be scheduled around the State.
