Verde River Film
Southwest Region, October 23, 2007
Print Friendly Version
Brenda Smith and Shaula Hedwall of Arizona Ecological Services Office were interviewed for a film about the values and threats facing the Verde River.  The film will be a documentary prepared by students in the Zaki Gordon Institute for Independent Filmmaking, part of the Sedona Center for Arts and Technology through Yavapai College, located in Sedona, Arizona.  The filmakers have been interviewing a number of people interested in and involved with management of the Verde River and its watersheds, including local political leaders and representatives of agencies and NGOs.  If accepted, the film may be presented during a future Sedona Arts Festival.  The interview included a discussion of the values and species of the Verde River, habitat needs for fish and other aquatic species, potential effects from loss of flows, and recommendations to community leaders for management of water resources.
