San Bernardino NWR Takes Part in Watchable Wildlife Conference in Tucson
Southwest Region, October 4, 2007
Print Friendly Version

San Bernardino NWR staff participated with Watchable Wildlife Incorporated, Arizona Game and Fish Department, Pima County, and other partners in the 2007 Watchable Wildlife National Conference held in Tucson, Arizona during October.  The Refuge Manager was a member of the steering committee which planned the conference, was a session moderator, and also led two morning birding field trips.  The Refuge Administrative Technician sold Junior Duck Stamps and Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamps during the event.  The conference was well attended and program sessions were packed with excellent speakers, including: Region-2 Director Dr. Benjamin Tuggle, who provided a keynote address; Bill Hartwig, retired Chief of the National Wildlife Refuge System; Rick Lemon, Director of the FWS National Conservation Training Center; and Richard Aiken, who presented the FWS 2006 National Survey of Fishing, Hunting, and Wildlife-associated Recreation.  Recreational activities centered upon watching wildlife continue to show tremendous growth both in the United States and abroad.
