Print Friendly Version

Green Point Environmental Learning Center, part of the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge in Saginaw, Michigan, got spruced up on September 29, 2007.

Twelve volunteers donated 36 hours as part of the annual National Public Lands Day event.  An environmental club from a local high school and individual volunteers worked from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. clearing brush and trees from 2.5 miles of trails, picking up litter, and landscaping a butterfly garden and decorative pond.  Their work made Green Point more attractive and safe for the visiting public.

For there efforts, each volunteer received a pass for one free entry into a federal lands unit of their choice.
