Steamboat Resource Management Project will enhance lynx habitat on the Chippewa National Forest.
Midwest Region, April 10, 2007
Print Friendly Version

Twin Cities Field Office biologist Susan Oetker met with Forest Service biologists and project managers to discuss and visit the Steamboat Resource Management Project on the Chippewa National Forest.

Much of the project area is currently located in habitat considered not suitable for lynx foraging or denning.  During the meeting, we discussed habitat management techniques that could enhance foraging and denning habitat for lynx in these areas, such as increase the conifer component of the landscape and leaving fallen trees to serve as den sites.

Due to these discussions, this project will enhance lynx habitat in northern Minnesota.
