In an effort to help raise public awareness of issues affecting Atlantic County's environmental future, Atlantic County government, in cooperation with the Atlantic County Utilities Authority and The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, held the Atlantic County Environmental Conference on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Stockton College.

The event, open to the public, featured a keynote address by award-winning broadcast journalist Betsy Rosenberg as well as seven panel discussions, exhibits and refreshments. Topics of discussion included emerging environmental issues, renewable energy technologies, tips for green living at home, best practices in green architectural design, ecotourism opportunities, coastal and bay issues and the impact of development on the region.

Those who attended heard panel discussions featuring guest speakers such as Congressman Frank Lobiondo, State Senator Sonny Mccullough, and County Executive Dennis Levinson.

Art Webster, Chief of Visitor Services at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, was a member of the panel discussing opportunities and challenges in eco-tourism.  Refuge Volunteer Coordinator, Sandy Perchetti, also attended as a member of the Greater Atlantic City Region Tourism Council, and co-chairperson of their eco-tourism committee.  Friends of Forsythe President, Ed Jones, also attended the conference.
