Journal Entry   Back Guys Mills Heritage Festival Makes a Hit! Northeast Region, June 30, 2007 Print Friendly Version Erie National Wildlife Refuge partnered with non-profit groups from the Guys Mills community to sponsor the first Guys Mills Heritage Fest.   The event, held on June 30th, brought approximately 350 visitors to the community.   Guests were treated to educational activities, demonstrations, and displays related to fire safety, town history, domestic/4-H animal care, maple syrup production, refuge management, wildlife, fishing, hunting, raptors, waterfowl, and backyard bird feeding.   The event could be considered a success not only from the number of visitors to this small community, but from the wonderful comments received from visitors, the community camaraderie that developed, the spirit of community that was fostered, the 2 Boy Scout Eagle projects that were completed, the general clean-up of the town, the increased number of volunteers on the refuge, and the increase in the number of memberships for the Friends of Erie National Wildlife Refuge.  Guests and participants are already asking about next year's Heritage Fest!
