Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge participated in three parades during the summer.  It provided an opportunity for the refuge to be seen in the local communities as well as giving out information about upcoming programs and events.

The Squaw Creek Youth Conservation Corp (YCC) were primarily responsible for the construction of the float which included full body mounts of a buffalo, coyote, turkey and pheasant with a Native American lodge in a back drop of a prairie.

On June 30, the float was entered in the Forest City Sesquicentennial event and was awarded first place.

On July 4, the same float was in the Mound City Sesquicentennial parade.

The float was also in the Oregon Fall Festival parade September 8.  It was voted the most artistic float and got a second place in the general category.
