Mound City and Forest City celebrated their 150th birthdays during 2007 by displaying banners along their main streets.  The banners were part of Challenge Cost Shares between Squaw Creek NWR, Mound City and Forest City. 

The banners were made by the Region 3 Sign Shop.  The top 1/3rd of each banner contained their centennial logo while the bottom 2/3rds had a wildlife picture plus the refuge name. 

Each community was responsible for providing the brackets and installing each banner.  Mound City installed their banners in early October while Forest City installed theirs in April. 

This provided an excellent opportunity for Sqauw Creek to become more visible in each community while adding color to their downtown main streets.
