Refuge's Chief Geoff Haskett, Congressman Don Manzullo and Upper Miss Refuge Manager Don Hultman participated in a Celebration of Accomplishments and Partnerships, August 14, at the Lost Mound Unit of Upper Miss Refuge.

The Celebration recognized the many partners and organizations involved in the transition of 10,000 acres of the Savanna Army Depot into the National Wildlife Refuge System.

About 60 individuals attended the Celebration including John Seymour from the Department of Interior's Office of the Solicitor, Deb Stone who is Deputy Director of ILDNR, and representatives from our conservation and tourism partners. Transition of the Depot began in 1995 under the Congressionally mandated Base Realignment and Closure Act.
