Carterville FRO, Partners Come Together to Discuss Options for U.S. Army Corps of Engineering Projects on the Middle Mississippi River
Midwest Region, June 20, 2007
Print Friendly Version

Fishery Biologist Nate Caswell and Project Leader Rob Simmonds, Carterville FRO, and representatives from a number of agencies participated  in an annual River Resources Action Team boat trip down the Middle Mississippi River.

This annual event provides a unique and important opportunity to review and discuss U.S. Army Corps of Engineers channel maintenance and habitat enhancement projects while traveling down the river and seeing them first hand.

It also provides a great opportunity to network and to learn more about the activities of several agencies who are on the trip.  Caswell presented information on Carterville FRO pre-project monitoring efforts for the Herculaneum Dike Alteration and the Harlow Island habitat enhancement projects.  The group also learned about the newly forming Upper Mississippi River Fish Habitat Partnership under the Nation Fish Habitat Action Plan.
