Sport Fishing and Boating Partnership Council members begin their day on the Upper Kenai River

Kenai National Wildlife Refuge hosted the Sport Fishing and Boating Partnership Council on the Refuge August 7.  The Council is a federally chartered advisory committee to the Secretary of Interior.  The 18 members represent industry, federal and state agencies, and conservation organizations and advise the Secretary on issues of national significance to fishing and boating programs.  The trip to Kenai was in association with other Council business but allowed members to see first hand the famous Kenai River, its busy fishing and boating activities, and learn about a suite of issues from habitat restoration work to new subsistence fisheries management issues.
