U.S. Senator Carl Levin's Upper Peninsula staff member, Amy Berglund attended a tour of the recent hatchery enhancements at Pendills Creek National Fish Hatchery.  Berglund was very interested in hatchery activities.

She hopes to become involved with activities of the "Friends of Pendills Creek Hatchery" the local Friends Group to assist them when possible.

Senator Levin is a strong supporter of the lake trout restoration work the Service conducts and is genuinely interested in the program.  Berglund realizes the importance of the program and the true value to the Great Lakes.

Berglund seemed very impressed over new capabilities and the quality of fish being produced.  She was concerned over the new emerging fish disease VHS in the Great Lakes and was very interested in proposed ultraviolet light disinfection system to treat hatchery water supply to protect fish.
