August 3 spelled the end to a productive summer season for Kenai National Wildlife Refuge's Youth Conservation Corp (YCC) enrollees.  Eight local teens were selected randomly in the spring for the Refuge positions.  The crew completed several hiking trail projects, including maintenance and re-routing.  They also worked on campground and parking area projects and maintenance around the Refuge's headquarters and visitor center.  In addition to completing valuable work, the YCC crew received training in environmental education and safety topics.
