Laguna Atascosa NWR staff was invited to participate in the First Annual Sea Life Event, hosted by the Sea Life Center on South Padre Island.  The purpose of the event was to bring about awareness and conservation for marine life.  It was a small event, with about eight booths, but all were focused on various ways to help marine life.  Topics and demonstrations included litter prevention, sea turtle rescue, and hurricane weather.  The Refuge booth included examples of various Valley animals, both marine and terrestrial, along with lots of maps and other refuge literature.  Approximately 150 to 200 persons attended the event.
