On July 12, 2007, Jason F. Roesner, wildlife biologist at the Service's East Texas Sub-office, gave a presentation concerning black bears to an environmental educational group at Tree Tops in the Forest in Ratcliff, Texas.  The group consisted of 12 children, ranging in age from 10 to 18 years old; they primarily came from urban areas and had not been previously exposed to the outdoors.  The presentation lasted approximately 30 minutes and focused on reviewing the brochure of “Be Bear Aware.org”.  Each child received a bag containing information concerning the National Forest and Grasslands in Texas along with assorted items.
