There was something fishy about Chris Olds’ opportunity to assist Lacrosse FRO staff with their survey work.  In fact, at a tender 21, this hometown boy from Northern Michigan received the experience of a lifetime. 

Olds was part of a crew performing surveillance for invasive carp species on the Illinois River. 

We don’t have these species up here at the 45^th parallel and we don’t want them.  Olds’ adventure included being knee deep in a boat full of carp, and receiving a couple of thuds on the back when the fish broke water.  He was glad to get the experience and be part of the important work being done by the FRO.
