Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge held it's 34th annual Kids Fishing Derby at Prairie Creek recreation area. 

This event brought out 315 kids ages twelve and under to enjoy a day of fishing with their families and friends. 

More than 30 volunteers, including members of local bass clubs, Southern Illinois Hunting & Fishing Days, Friends of Crab Orchard Refuge, Take Pride in America and Camo the Clown, helped make this event a success. 

Each child received a 2007 Kids Fishing Derby t-shirt and a goodie bag that had fishing information, books, tackle, and tickets for local restaurants, etc.  Prizes were given for largest, smallest, and most fish caught in each age category.
