Arlington Field Office participates in inauguration of Texas Prairie Coalition
Southwest Region, June 21, 2007
Print Friendly Version

On June 21, 2007, Service biologist Steve Arey from the Arlington Texas Field Office attended a meeting of the Texas Prairie Coalition at the Elm Fork Project Office of the US Army Corps of Engineers, Lewisville, Texas. The meeting was hosted by the Native Prairies Association of Texas. In attendance, at this initial meeting, were 32 individuals from various conservation groups throughout the state. The Texas Prairie Coalition is a forum being developed for groups actively involved or interested in native prairie conservation, restoration, and/or education in Texas to communicate and cooperate with each other in the hope that it will increase our overall efforts in helping the prairies and other grasslands, native plant communities, grassland birds and other prairie wildlife of Texas. Information was presented about the Service’s and the Partners for Fish and Wildlife program’s efforts in conserving and restoring our native grassland communities throughout the state.
