Trinity River Audubon Center dedicated in the City of Dallas
Southwest Region, June 12, 2007
Print Friendly Version

On June 12, 2007, Arlington, Texas Field Office staff attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the Trinity River Audubon Center.  In attendance were Dallas Mayor Laura Miller, State Senator Royce West, as well as numerous local officials and notable environmental enthusiasts.  This 120-acre planned facility within the over 6000-acre Great Trinity Forest is a public/private partnership between Audubon and the City of Dallas Parks and Recreation Department and is a component of the City’s Trinity River Corridor Project.  The Center site, near a prominent bend in the Trinity River, is located approximately eight minutes south of downtown Dallas. This location will allow Audubon to target schoolchildren and families with significant needs, providing safe outdoor opportunities in their own neighborhoods.  The Center will provide the rare opportunity to connect people with water and land resource conservation issues at a premier educational and visitors’ venue.
