Arlington Field Office discusses conservation with local elementary school students
Southwest Region, June 12, 2007
Print Friendly Version

On June 5, 2007, Sean Edwards of the Arlington, Texas Field Office offered a presentation to approximately 120 fifth-graders at Vandagriff Elementary in Aledo, Texas.  The students were given an understanding of how species become endangered and why it is important to conserve our wildlife and their habitats. Each student was encouraged to recognize that the loss of species or ecosystems, no matter how seemingly insignificant, can affect our quality of life.  Also discussed was the importance of spending time outdoors discovering nature as well as practical ways in which each of us might participate in conservation.  The students were also encouraged to consider a career in life sciences and were made aware of the satisfaction that comes from working to better our world.  A question and answer session concluded the presentation as numerous artifacts were passed around and discussed.
