The National Wildlife Visitor Center hosted Kids’ Fishing Day on June 9^th, 2007.

The Refuge had over 200 young anglers. This yearly event kicks off the fishing season for Cash Lake. Along with fishing in Lake Redington and Cash Lake, the kids learned about fishing ethics, fish handling and casting. Once again, The Refuge provided all fishing equipment and bait. Staff and volunteers were on hand to help bait hooks and handle fish. There were many happy faces and some anglers returned to fish the very next day! Kids' Fishing Day was made possible with the help of supplies provided by Wal-Mart, Bass Pro Shops, and Friends of Patuxent.
