Journal Entry   Back Erie National Wildlife RefugeHosts 6th Annual Family Fishing Event Northeast Region, May 30, 2007 Print Friendly Version Over 50 children and their families participated in a Family Fishing Event at Erie National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, May 19. The event was sponsored by Erie National Wildlife Refuge, the Friends of Erie NWR, and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PA FBC).  Participants started the day with PA FBC staff members presenting angler education including fishing ethics and regulations; fish anatomy, behavior, and habitat; fishing equipment; knot tying and casting practice.   The young anglers then practiced their skills on one of the refuge's best fishing spots.   Nearly 30 of new fishermen and women caught a fish.  Prizes and lunch were just an added "bite on the line" to make the day complete.   Contact Info: Jennifer Lapis, (413) 253-8303, jennifer_lapis@fws.gov Send to: From: Notes: ..........................................................................................
