New volunteers gather at Kenai National Wildlife Refuge to participate in a bird care workshop.

Kenai National Wildlife Refuge hosted a half day workshop May 13 at the Refuge headquarters for volunteers interested in bird care.  Two local bird rehabilitators were on hand to network with the 20 new people interested in bird care and rehabilitation.  With the coming of spring the Refuge gets many calls from the public regarding injured birds and there are no established bird rehabilitation centers in the area.  The Refuge tries to respond to as many of the calls as possible.  The new group of volunteers will be of great service to the Refuge and their many feathered friends!
