Arlington Field Office participates in Texas Water Permit Streamlining Workshop
Southwest Region, May 24, 2007
Print Friendly Version
On May 24, 2007, the Arlington Field Office participated in the first of four educational workshops being held throughout the State of Texas regarding the streamlining of the permits process for water supply and water rights permit applicants.  The workshop in Arlington, Texas, sponsored jointly by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Texas Water Development Board and Texas Water Conservation Association, brought together several Federal and State natural resource agencies involved in water resource planning to discuss their agency requirements and procedures, as well as to seek public input on measures which have the potential to improve the efficiency and quality of permit applications.  The workshop was specifically developed to delivery information and seek the input of a variety of water supply providers, including water authorities, utility districts, municipalities, consultants, and other interested parties.

Mr. Tom Cloud, Arlington Field Office supervisor, provided a short presentation on the Service’s role and responsibilities in the Corps of Engineers’ Section 404 permitting process and participated in a multi-agency panel discussion on mitigation issues associated with the permitting process for water projects.  Additional educational workshops are currently scheduled for the Cities of San Antonio, Houston, and Midland in the upcoming weeks.
