Journal Entry   Back Wallkill River National Wildlife RefugeHolds "Take Me Fishing" Event Northeast Region, May 12, 2007 Print Friendly Version Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge staff along with the Friends of the Wallkill River Refuges hosted a very successful "Take Me Fishing" event. Held at a pond usually closed to visitors, the event drew 120 registered kids and an approximate total of 300 people. The event received coverage in two newspapers. Partners were a key part of the event; the State of New Jersey provided fish and and interpretive talks, a local rod and gun club provided additional fish and instruction, and many local businesses provided support. A number of local officials attended the event as well. The weather was perfect, the fish were biting, and good times and good will were everywhere.
