Heffley/USFWS/28Apr2007/Eastern Neck NWR/Youth Turkey Hunters

In coordination with local members of the National Wild Turkey Federation, the refuge hosted a youth turkey hunt.  Members guided the three youths selected for the hunt.  The bag limit was one bearded turkey per youth. Two of the three hunters were successful in harvesting a Jake with a 4.5 inch beard and a Jake with a 10 inch beard.  It was the first time of harvesting a turkey for both boys.  The refuge law enforcement officer provided assistance during the hunt.
