Conservation message presented to elementary students in DFW
Southwest Region, May 4, 2007
Print Friendly Version
On May 2, and May 4, 2007, Sean Edwards of the Arlington, Texas Field Office offered conservation-themed presentations to approximately 530 fourth, fifth, and sixth-graders within the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  In keeping with the spirit of our Rachel Carson Centennial, the students were given an understanding of the Service’s mission and a general emphasis on the importance of sharing the world’s resources with other living things.  The importance of spending time outdoors discovering nature was also emphasized as well as practical ways is which each of us might participate in conservation.  Also discussed were the responsibilities of being a wildlife biologist and the satisfaction that comes with working in the field of science to better our world.  The presentations concluded with a question and answer session as numerous artifacts were passed around and discussed.
