East Lansing Field Office biologist, Barbara Hosler, attended the Launch Meeting of the Great Lakes Fishery Trust's Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative. 

The goal of the Stewardship Initiative is to increase awareness and understanding of the ecology of the Great Lakes so that Michigan's residents become active and effective stewards of the Great Lakes and advocates for strategies that support the long-term sustainability of the Great Lakes fisheries. 

The Stewardship Initiative's strategy involves an integrated model that features three components: place-based education, sustained professional development for K-12 teachers, and K-12 school/community partnerships.
