Kenai National Wildlife Refuge held an open house for the local community on April 14 to celebrate the coming of spring.  Activities included birding tours on the Keen Eye Nature Trail and the nearby Kenai River Flats, crafts, movies, and various displays and learning stations.  One hundred and two people participated in visitor center activities, including the showing of "Winged Migration" and 73 people attended one of the two presentations by the Bird Treatment and Learning Center who had a live merlin and crow.  Additionally 66 children completed bird learning activities and crafts.  One of the more popular activities was getting a picture taken with the National Wildlife Refuge System blue goose mascot.
