Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge hosted their annual youth turkey hunt on March 31 and April 1, on the restricted use area of the Refuge. 

The hunt was a success with three turkeys harvested.  Prizes were given to Zachary Pineda for harvesting the largest turkey.  

Pineda harvested his turkey on opening morning, March 31, and was the first one to check in with a turkey.  His adult gobbler weighed in at 19 pounds and had a beard length of 11 1/2 inches.
