Southwest Region, March 12, 2007
Print Friendly Version

Richard Stark of the Oklahoma ES Field Office attended a hands-on training session on GIS, GPS, and GPR hosted by the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma.  This hand-on session was part of the 2007 "To Bridge a Gap" Conference designed to strengthen relationships between agencies of the federal government and federally-recognized Tribal governments.  The training consisted of several presentations on the use of the GIS, GPS, and GPR followed by demonstrations of the use of these tools in the field.  Oklahoma ES attended primarily for the session on ground penetrating radar due to the use of this and other geophysical survey techniques for cavity imaging and the detection of subsurface karst voids.
