Chicago Wilderness Journal Enters Fourth Year of Publication
Midwest Region, March 27, 2007
Print Friendly Version

In 2003, the Chicago Region Biodiversity Council (Chicago Wilderness) decided it would publish an on-line journal to facilitate the sharing of results and lessons learned from member-initiated projects and activities.

Chicago Wilderness is an unprecedented alliance of 203 public and private organizations working together to study and restore, protect and manage the precious natural ecosystems of the Chicago region (Southeastern Wisconsin, Northeastern Illinois, Northern Indiana, and Southwest Michigan) for the benefit of the public.

The mission of the Chicago Wilderness Journal is to 1) facilitate the sharing of results and lessons learned from member-initiated projects and activities, including consortium funded projects, team activities, or the work of individual member organizations that would be useful to the wider membership; 2) through easily consumable articles discuss practical implications, interpret data, and/or make recommendations about issues within the areas of science, natural resources management, sustainability, education, and communication in the Chicago region; and 3) foster a sense of community among Chicago Wilderness members and improve members’ ability to communicate with diverse audiences.

This journal is a forum for sharing important results and lessons learned through biodiversity conservation work; an interdisciplinary publication that features a mix of articles in each issue from the fields of science, natural resources management, education, communication, and sustainability; and an online journal, published three times a year, guided by an editorial board composed of Chicago Wilderness members and consortium staff.

The Chicago Wilderness Journal is published by Chicago Wilderness on its website three times per year.  Please visit the Chicago Wilderness website and download the journal at www.chicagowilderness.org.
