Horicon NWR staff participated in the Fond du Lac Area Association of Commerce’s fourth annual Consortium Wide Career Day, on March 13. 

The Refuge has partnered with the Association of commerce since 2002 in their student employment program and joined in on the career day since its inception in 2004. 

More than 500 eighth grade students and teachers attended the Consortium, with about 100 students specifically attending the Horicon NWR session. 

Students were able to choose the sessions that they are most interested in for a future career. 

Refuge staff provided the students with an overview of working in the Service and specifically on a National Wildlife Refuge.  The second half of the session consisted of a hands-on activity, which involved a student using some of the tools of a biologist.
