Topeka Shiner Fact Sheet Completed and PostedTo Internet
Midwest Region, February 27, 2007
Print Friendly Version

The listing of Topeka shiner as endangered in 1998 and the designation of critical habitat for the species in 2004 have resulted in significant misinformation, confusion, and controversy among various constituencies in southwest Minnesota.

This fact sheet (http://www.fws.gov/midwest/Endangered/fishes/tosh_mn.html) is an attempt to provide accurate information to interested citizens, media, and politicians and to steer further inquiries to the Service's Twin Cities Field Office.
