Journal Entry   Back Arizona Ecological Services Office Coordinates with Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation on Endangered Species Conservation Southwest Region, February 8, 2007 Print Friendly Version Endangered Species, Environmental Contaminants, Federal Projects, Sonoran Joint Venture, Fish and Wildlife Partners in Flight Program, Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program, and other staff of the Arizona Ecological Services Office (AESO) met with representatives of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation's (FMYN) environemntal programs staff.  The meeting was arranged so that  newly hired FMYN staff could become acquainted with AESO personnel and the programs we implement at the AESO.  Another purpose for the meeting was to explore ways the AESO and FMYN could partner in conservation projects.  Finally, AESO took the opportunity to discuss the Horseshoe-Bartlett Habitat Conservation Plan with the FMYN staff. This multi-species HCP is a large 50-year project that includes the Verde River as it flows through the FMYN land as part of the action area. The meeting was viewed as a success in its objectives and future meetings are anticipated between AESO and FMYN Tribal Council regarding the HCP and/or other potential conservation partnerships.
