Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge held an American Red Cross blood drive, on January 31, at the Visitor Center. 

Refuge staff, partner agencies, and the public helped make this blood drive a success with 38 people giving blood.  The Red Cross collected 35 units of blood which exceeded their goal of 25 units. 

The Friends of Crab Orchard Refuge gave an incentive to donate, as those who brought a buddy received a free wildlife calendar. 

Participants included eight first-time donors. 

The Refuge hosts another blood drive, July 11.  During the July blood drive, the American Red Cross will be handing out St. Louis Cardinals t-shirts to all who donate.
