Journal Entry   Back Maine'sMoosehorn National WildlifeRefuge Discusses Wildfire Program Northeast Region, January 24, 2007 Print Friendly Version Allen Carter, Regional Fire Coordinator and Rick Vollick, Northeast Fire Planner met with the biological and management staff of Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge to discuss the future of the wildfire program.  Vollick and Carter spent one and half days reviewing staffing, performance, equipment, facilities and logistics to insure that Moosehorn's fire program will  respond to the demands of the upcoming wildfire season.    Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge has an aggressive prescribed burn program and offers assistance to the Maine Forest Service during fire season.  The impact of workforce planning and staff reductions was addressed to insure that there were no impacts on the safety of resources or staff during response.
