TETLIN: CANS Film FestivalComes toTok
Alaska Region, January 20, 2007
Print Friendly Version

Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge in partnership with Far North Conservation Film Film Festival, Fairbanks Alaska Public Lands Information Center (FAPLIC), Duct Tape Radio, Alaska Humanities Forum, Alaska Natural History Association, and Fast Eddy's (our local restaurant)  presented the first annual (we hope) CANS Film Festival in Tok, Alaska (pop. 1,393).  Admission was one can of food donated to the local food bank.  Films consisted of the "Top 10" films from the annual Far North Conservation Film Festival held in Fairbanks in November including "Ryan's Well," "Rollerboy," "Farming the Sea," "Grocery Store War,s" and "An Alaskan Summer."

The festival took place at Fast Eddy's banquet room whose new wide-screen TV made it the perfect venue...folks could munch on a burger and sip a shake while enjoying some great movies.

We had to "compete" with several other activities going on in town at the same time, but more than 30 participants donated a huge box of canned goods for the food bank.  Thank you to all who participated.
