The Larson Creek Partners for Fish and Wildlife fish passage project was recently completed by Green Bay Field Office biologist Gary Van Vreede.

The project involved the removal of a culvert stream crossing and replacement with a clear span timber bridge.  The crossing was put in place in the 1950’s and over time the metal culverts have rusted out and started to collapse.

Sediment and debris had collected in the culverts making it difficult for fish to pass through to upstream spawning habitat.

The site is located Door County, Wisconsin near the mouth of Larsen Creek were it enters the Lake Michigan basin through the bay of Green Bay.

Located just upstream of the crossing is a 100 acre marsh that provides valuable spawning habitat for large numbers of walleye and northern pike.
